Looking for some good, cheap eats in downtown Raleigh? Look no further than Sosta Cafe.
For starters, the SOUP OF THE DAY ($2.00 when added to salad/sandwich) was a CREAM OF ASPARAGUS. Served with a warm piece of ciabatta bread, it had an excellent flavor and hit the spot on such a cold day.
I gave the SOSTA SALAD ($9.75) a shot and was nothing but impressed. With grilled chicken, mixed greens, artichoke hearts, roasted Portobello mushrooms, tomatoes, Parmesan-herb croutons and citrus mustard dressing, it’s hard to go wrong. The best part was probably the chicken–it was hot off the grill (uncommon for most salads), very moist and well-seasoned. The dressing was the perfect compliment: very light and not too overpowering.
The best part, though? Sosta Cafe takes their coffee very seriously. It amazes me that Starbucks is still around when places like Sosta Cafe serve up coffee that is INFINITELY better for around 30% less. And, they’ll make you a real cappuccino -none of that 90% milk stuff from Starbucks.
BOTTOM LINE: Fresh, healthy food at good prices–what more do you want? Oh yeah–the coffee is amazing too!
