New Benefit for AMEX Platinum Cardholders: Register for Free Boingo Wi-Fi
The American Express Platinum card is one of the best cards out there. While it carriers a very hefty annual fee ($450) for both the Personal and Business versions, it has some of the best benefits and travel-related services that are very value-add. Here’s a quick list of what the $450 a year will get you:
- Global Entry Fee Credit ($100 one-time value)
- Upgrade to Starwood Preferred Guest Gold (typically requires 10 stays or 25 nights per year)
- $200 Airline Fee Credit Annually ($200 value, but did it really need saying?–covers incidental charges for the airline of your choice)
- Access to airport lounges
- Free Priority PassTM Select membership (~$399 value, offers access to 700+ airport lounges worldwide)
- The CenturionSM Lounge
- Delta SkyClubs ($450 value)
- AirSpace Lounges
- Access to FINE HOTELS & RESORTS program (favorable rates, benefits and packages at participating properties)
- International Airline Program: “Enjoy a companion offer anytime you purchase a qualifying Business or First Class ticket for international air travel on over 20 participating airlines.”
- Rental car privileges
- Hertz: access to discount code that gives you 4 hours free per rental (i.e. rent from 12pm to 4pm the following day, a 28 hour rental and only be charged for 1-day)
- National: free membership to Emerald Club Executive (typically requires 12+ rentals/year)
Back in March 2014, American Express announced that it would be adding a new benefit to the card: Free access to Boingo Wi-Fi hotspots:

How to Get It
- Head to the special website: The Boingo American Express Preferred Plan
- Enter your card number to check eligibility
- If you entered an AMEX Platinum card number you should be all set
- Create a user name and password and you’re all done!
This is a great new feature from American Express and Boingo. From what I can tell, it is closest to their $59/month plan:
