Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel – Starwood Category 2
1 Europa Drive, Chapel Hill, North Carolina 27517
Award Redemption: 4,000 pts, no Cash & Points awards available
Normal rate: $149 avg, ranging from $125 – $299
Best Starpoints return: 3.7 cents/point – GOOD/SLIGHTLY ABOVE AVERAGE

Room: Very homey feel, well decorated and comfortable.
Pros: Huge work desk area, nice balcony that is actually accessible (overlooks pool), fridge/microwave in rooms. Free WiFi in the rooms.
Cons: VERY cramped feeling. I mean, they’ve shoved like 14 lamps into the tiniest of rooms. The bathroom is small, too, and the sink area has very limited space.

Hotel Lobby/Common Areas: Free parking and free WiFi. The hotel restaurant/bar is in a seperate building, but seemed to be a little above par. Hotel lobby area looked freshly renovated, but there’s not much good room to get a drink and/or get work done.

Gym: Pretty average.

Location: Location was fine (convenient to I-40), but nothing within walking distance.

BOTTOM LINE: This was one of the more dead-seeming hotels, the rooms are very comfortable feeling but way too small. The location is ok and everything really just average. If you need a place to stay, I recommend the Aloft Chapel Hill instead.

What’s that?! A balcony with a door that actually opens overlooking the pool? Rare for any hotel these days, nice feature I guess.

Loving the Knight Ryder meets other crappy 80s show style ads plastered around for Don Shula’s 347 Grill.
