Moerlein Lager House – Cincinnati, Ohio
115 Joe Nuxhall Way, Cincinnati, Ohio
$$$ – Entree + 2 beers + tip = $40+
At Moerlein Lager House, you’ll find a huge restaurant situated in a brand new building right alongside an expansive (enclosed) beer garden and a giant list of delicious beers. The location is prime: just a 10 minute walk to Fountain Square, right across the street from the Cincinnati Reds’ field and rocking a great view of the old suspension bridge.
Examining the menu and after my visit to Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in Columbus, Ohio, I realized that these people can’t help themselves when it comes to German food. I went a little less German (I think) and ordered the 12 OZ PRIME RIB ($23) coated in a Barbarossa demi-glace with a side of horseradish cream. The well-seasoned meat was succulent and cooked perfectly, making the au juice sauce unnecessary. Feeling guilty about neglecting the German influences, I ordered the WARM POTATO AND GREEN BEAN SALAD as my side.
BOTTOM LINE: Great food, great location and great atmosphere. The only thing that might leave you a little disappointed is the food prices.
