It’s been a while since we’ve hosted a blog giveaway, so we’re at it again! This time, we’re giving away a Thai Airways Royal First Class Amenity Kit made by RIMOWA. One of our favorite parts about getting to travel in First Class is getting to see what’s in our Amenity Kit – it’s like being a kid on Christmas morning! And, Thai Airways, who partners with RIMOWA, is one of our favorites, so we wanted to share the sparkle with you!
This amenity kit is made by world-renowned luggage brand RIMOWA and includes eau de cologne, body lotion, lip balm, comb & brush, comfort socks, earplugs, eyeshade, toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash. [...]
Help! You’re planning the trip of a lifetime to Southeast Asia but are completely stuck and don’t know what to where. It can be a bit intimidating: there’s a dress code for visiting temples (no bare shoulders or knees) but the humidity is absolutely gut-wrenching. So, there’s that.
On our trip to Thailand (my first foray into Southeast Asia), I packed adhering to the pretty strict temple dress code. I was quickly shocked to find out that a) yikes, even cotton pants don’t breathe like they should! and b) every other woman tourist there had not seemed to pack according to the dress code at all! And, what’s more, outside of each temple where [...]
As I’ve written about before, the Park Hyatt brand is my very favorite hotel group. In addition to celebrating several milestones at Park Hyatts, there’s nothing that makes you feel like a princess if not a stay at the Park Hyatt. Our recent stay at the brand new Park Hyatt New York was nothing short of luxurious and was the perfect home away from home while we celebrated our first anniversary. Just a block from Central Park and overlooking Carnegie Hall, the location – in the center of Midtown – is top notch.
Once we arrived in Santiago, we took a cab from the airport straight to our hotel — the W Santiago in the Las Condes area. Like all W hotels, the best word to describe the hotel was “glamorous.” Like, it seems like Kim K is going to be staying in the suite next door to yours. All W’s, although decorated differently with their own motif, all share the same party atmosphere and glam decor. The W even has a signature scent… to go along with their signature house music. When you’re at the W, you know you’re not going to sleep before 4am.
CHECK-IN
We arrived at the hotel after one 10-hour, nearly sleepless flight [...]
One day on our honeymoon, we were caught in the rain for hours. No big deal, but, the very next morning, we had to board an international flight. Put two and two together and… my favorite flats never made it home.
I realized that travel shoes were important — especially ones that could get wet. And, with the beginning of the fall season, I’ve been on the market for a good pair of waterproof flats. Ideally, they’ll look like normal flats — but just won’t get ruined if I get caught in the rain.
I’ve found two pairs that fit the bill, both with good reviews. I’d wear both of these flats in rain or shine, so they’re easy [...]
Our experience with the Thai Royal First Ground Service was short and speedy — just like it’s supposed to be. After touching down from our Frankfurt, Germany to Bangkok, Thailand journey (read more about our flight here: Thai Airways A380 Royal First Class – TG 921 Frankfurt-FRA to Bangkok-BKK) at 6:01am, we were welcomed at the gate by a Thai Airways staff member. Once she gathered us together with one other First Class passenger, she led us to a golf cart and promptly whisked us away through connecting security and masses of other passengers to the First Class lounge. We were inside the lounge (clear across the airport) by 6:25am… that’s what you call first [...]
It’s no secret that Park Hyatt is one of the nicest hotel brands in the world, and it’s (by far) my personal favorite (so, no, this post is not sponsored by the Park Hyatt). Whenever Jeffrey surprises me with a stay at a Park Hyatt, I am over-the-moon excited! From the rooms’ decor to the delicious food to the incomparable service, there are no disappointments with Park Hyatt. Each time I stay in a Park Hyatt, I find my stay in the hotel a destination in and of itself — it’s hard to even leave the hotel to venture out to explore!
Like many other hotel chains, stores and restaurants, Park Hyatts are all pretty similar in “niceness” but [...]
I’m not a runner. Definitely not a Cross-Fitter. I get lost in a regular gym and am still intimidated in weight rooms. If this sounds like you, keep reading…
Although I’m definitely not a work out every day type of girl, I’ve recently been enjoying exercising more than ever before.
Jeffrey and I spend most of our days when we’re traveling walking around all day long exploring new places. But, I’ve been checking out several different apps to help me keep exercising when we’re on the road — and I’ve even been using them a lot at home lately.
Here are the two I’ve really loved so far. For me, these apps [...]
My sister was studying abroad in Argentina this past semester, so McCown and I planned a trip to go and visit her. We both had a decent stockpile of Delta SkyMiles and, with the impending changes to the 2015 SkyMiles program, I really wanted to burn all of the miles that we had in the event that Delta renders them all but worthless next year.
By using Delta Skymiles, we were able to take advantage of their routing rules to have 1 free stopover and 1 free open-jaw. It looked like this:
Depart Charleston-CHS, fly to Atlanta-ATL to connect to Delta 147 from ATL to Santiago, Chile-SCL. This was the beginning of our open-jaw. After 2 nights in Santiago, we purchased [...]Even though we had a full night’s layover in Frankfurt (see our adventures in Frankfurt here), Jeffrey casanova’d our way into the First Class Lounge at Frankfurt’s airport, duh. Be forewarned that we had just visited the Lufthansa First Class lounge in New York-JFK and this post will make lots of comparisons: Lufthansa First Class Lounge – New York-JFK Airport.
Frankfurt Airport is one of the three mega-hubs in Europe, with more than 52 million passengers/year, 60% of which are Lufthansa travelers (that’s about 100,000 Lufthansa travelers per day!).
Given the above stats, it’s not surprising that they’re a bit stingy with access to [...]
