Growing up in the South, I learned two things: Pepsi is the work of the devil and NEVER go to Ohio. Well, a business trip caused me to break one of those rules (with the exception of the occasional but delicious Dr. Pepper) and (much to my chagrin) it didn’t suck nearly as much as I anticipated.
My top 4 reasons Cincinnati Doesn’t Suck (because 5 is a stretch):
Can you say f-ing “sky walk”?!You mean I can walk from my hotel/apartment to my office, a restaurant or a mall – all without having to see the sky? While their 1.3 miles tunnel system pales in comparison to Chicago’s or Toronto’s (18 miles!), it’s still pretty [...]Don’t miss out on Marriott’s awesome promo Marriott Rewards MegaBonus 2013:

At Moerlein Lager House, you’ll find a huge restaurant situated in a brand new building right alongside an expansive (enclosed) beer garden and a giant list of delicious beers. The location is prime: just a 10 minute walk to Fountain Square, right across the street from the Cincinnati Reds’ field and rocking a great view of the old suspension bridge.

Examining the menu and after my visit to Schmidt’s Sausage Haus in Columbus, Ohio, I [...]
Restaurant.com can be a great money-saving tool. We use it frequently, but you have to keep in mind that the only type of restaurant that signs up for the program is the desperate type that is trying to hunt down as many customers as possible.
From the looks of their website, Restaurant.com is completely free to restaurant owners–they are given a free “page” on the website, which has detailed info such as uploads of the menu, address, pictures etc… Restaurant.com then sells the gift cards for the restaurant for as much as they can and they keep all of the revenue. In exchange, the restaurant is featured on the website (which touts 50 million [...]
101 W. 4th Street, Winston-Salem, North Carolina Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Vegetarian $ — Lunch is cheap, appx $8.50 for sandwich + fries
The fresh smell of Mediterranean spices smacks you in the face when you walk in and you’re already certain you’ve picked a good spot. At lunch, you’ll order at the counter and then take your number to the table. You’ll get a very local vibe in all respects here, especially from the giant boards naming all the ingredients and listing their local origins. I ordered the ACE OF FELAFEL PITA ($6.50) and it arrived at the table in a pretty quick 10 mins or so after ordering it. Served with 3 felafel [...]
5615 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC Vietnamese $ – Entrees $8.55 – $11.55
This Vietnamese Restaurant had all (read: the only) of the features I require in a good ethnic restaurant: lots of glowing Urbanspoon reviews. It’s so easy to go very wrong when eating Asian food, and a little bit of encouragement from fellow Anglo-Saxons is all I need to feel safe enough to give it a try.
Like any authentic Asian restaurant, it was in some pretty cheap-looking real estate–in a run-down building occupying the corner of a strip mall parking lot. This is a good sign. The last thing you want is to find one in an expensive part of [...]
Small planes scare many people in the US where we have fairly strict regulation of both aircraft and airspace. It can be assumed that, in non-developed nations, these things fall to the back burner and Guyana is no exception – although it is improving.
Thus, it was important to us to pick a tour operator that had an aircraft that would take us further than the scene of the crash. When researching from afar, it’s hard to know exactly what you’re dealing with, so hopefully our experience can help.
Out of all the flight operators, Air Services Limited has one of the more impressive websites showing off their fleet and large crew, [...]
