Did you know…? “Bangkok” is just the short version because the city’s ceremonial name is “Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Yuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit” – a mouth-full, for sure.
There’s about as much to do in Thailand’s capital city as there are names for it… but, after spending some time in the city (and then determining that it’s one of our top favorite cities in the world), we’ve come up with a list of our top 8 things to do in Bangkok.
So, without further ado…(and in no particular [...]
I was browsing Wikipedia the other day looking for a ranking of the top US Domestic airlines based on passengers carried and came across this:
I had no idea that Delta was the largest airline in the world as of 2012! This got me thinking: what are Delta’s longest non-stop routes? This installment joins the others I’ve compiled including:
Top 7: Longest domestic US flights Top 10: Longest Domestic Flights in the World Top 10: World’s longest non-stop flights Top 12 Longest Non-Stop Delta Flights Johannesburg-JNB –> Atlanta-ATL comes in to take the lead with an 8,439 mile journey on a Boeing [...]You’d think that this was a cut and dry topic, but it’s far from it. What flights should count? Non-stop only? Contiguous countries? Territories and dependencies (they do often have the same currency and government as their mother country)?? As a result we’ve had to categorize the list a bit. We’ll start with a little background: the IATA (International Air Transport Association) defines “domestic” as two places with the same ISO country code. Contrary to the IATA definition, however, the regular passenger considers domestic flights as those where they do not need to pass immigration on departure and arrival.
Longest non-stop domestic [...]1) Get Scrubbed to the Bone in a Turkish Bath
Ok, now before I experienced this, it was both a “can’t wait to do this” adventure and a “what the heck am I getting myself into?!” feeling. Traditionally, men and women are separated into totally different areas (yes, that meant separating from the one person I knew on the continent and putting myself into the trusting hands of… old women who scrub you down while you’re naked? And they’re just staring at you and laughing in a language you can’t understand). Yes, daunting to say the least.
So, Jeffrey and I took the wimpy way out and voted to go to the one [...]
Tomorrow is one of my favorite holidays of the year. Summer fun without all the hustle and bustle of buying gifts that usually comes with a holiday…sign me up!
And, while it may be a little late to plan a visit to these places, I thought it’d be fun to share my top 5 places in the US to celebrate ‘Merica.
5. Ocala, Florida
Located in northern Florida (and, notably, in the middle of the state), Ocala is home of the Silver Springs’ July 4th Extravaganza, where KC & The Sunshine Band is in concert. [...]
