Top 10: Longest Domestic Flights in the World

You’d think that this was a cut and dry topic, but it’s far from it. What flights should count? Non-stop only? Contiguous countries? Territories and dependencies (they do often have the same currency and government as their mother country)?? As a result we’ve had to categorize the list a bit. We’ll start with a little background:  the IATA (International Air Transport Association) defines “domestic” as two places with the same ISO country code. Contrary to the IATA definition, however, the regular passenger considers domestic flights as those where they do not need to pass immigration on departure and arrival.

Longest non-stop domestic [...]

Park Hyatt Washington, D.C. Review

As I approached the entrance, 2 bellmen sprinted towards me to help with my luggage and escorted me to the check-in desk. The counter was spread out and quite spacious. They thanked me for my Diamond status, explained that breakfast was included...

With the clock ticking, we hit the ground running by grabbing a cab to the THE WESTIN GRAND CENTRAL (previously The New York Helmsley Hotel).

No trip to the Big Apple would be complete without a trip to Times Square, no matter how many times you’ve been before:

My First Hertz Award Redemption

While planning our recent weekend trip to Boston, I knew from the start we weren’t going to make it very far without a car. I had taken advantage of the most recent IHG PointBreaks list and booked a room for 3 nights at $35/night, which put us in the Crowne Plaza Newton–about 7 miles from the center of Boston. To top it off, we were booked on Spirit Air and scheduled to arrive at 12:30am Saturday and had a flight out at 5:30am on Monday–not the best hours to rely on public transit or cabs. So, a car rental was in our future, like it or not.

A quick check on Kayak.com revealed only very expensive options, close to $200 for my 48-hour rental. Either the Boston [...]

Spirit Airlines Review – NK #126 Myrtle Beach-Boston

ABOUT SPIRIT AIR

Ahh yes, Spirit Air:  the self-proclaimed “America’s Only ULCC-Ultra Low Cost Carrier.” The champions of nickel-and-diming, Spirit charges the customer only for what he uses. If you want to carry on a bag, you’re welcomed to for a fee, but they don’t add it to the ticket cost because they don’t charge those who don’t want the service. No matter what your opinion is on the big change in the airline industry, you can’t deny that Spirit Air has some damn cheap fares on their routes.

I don’t necessarily expect the same level of service on a $40 flight as I do on the $8,000 trans-Atlantic First Class ticket, but we all expect a minimum level of service [...]

St. Regis Washington, D.C. Review

I had an opportunity to stay at the St. Regis Washington DC for just a night after a flight cancellation kept me in DC an extra night ("weather related" cancellation so no hotel voucher for me--thanks for nothing, Delta!) I jumped online and saw that there was last minute availability at the Fed/Gov't rate

Check out some videos and setlist from the Black Crowes and the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s co-headling tour. The Tedeschi Trucks Band played first at this showing, taking the stage right at 6:30pm.

From JamBands.com:

After a night off, Tedeschi Trucks Band’s co-headlining tour with The Black Crowes resumes at Raleigh, NC’s Red Hat Amphitheatre yesterday. The members of Tedeschi Trucks Band have regularly joined The Black Crowes for their encore this tour, but last night Chris Robinson also sat in with Tedeschi Trucks Band.
