201 E Main St, Charlottesville, VA Latin American $$$ – Entrees $19-27
We were in Charlottesville not so long ago and really loved exploring the area. The city, like Charleston, has plenty of historical sites and also a fun, “hip” scene, too. We spent a lot of time window shopping along the Downtown Mall, and decided there was no better place to have dinner than there.
Zocalo is located right on the main pedestrian street with a huge outdoor patio. Fall is the perfect time for the patio so we waited a few minutes for a table then sat right down for some people watching.
One look at the menu, and Jeffrey and I [...]
3895 Boulevard Saint-Laurent, Montreal, QC $-$$ – Appx 15 CAD for 2 people. Sandwiches/Subs, Eastern European, Delicatessen
Without fail, everything we read pointed us to Schwartz’s Deli, as the must-try restaurant in Montreal. Sure enough, when we walked up to the deli, the line was wrapped along the outside of the building, but moved surprisingly fast – we were seated in less than 10 minutes. So, don’t let that long line fool you into giving up.
We got lucky and were seated at the only two-seater table, in the very back of the restaurant. Every other table in the small restaurant sat eight people, and different sized parties were suddenly eating [...]
8787 N. Scottsdale Rd – Ste 228, Scottsdale, AZ $ – Lunch $8-12 French cafe fare/Crepes
Situated in an upscale shopping center, Chez Vous immediately starts off on the right foot with plenty of outdoor seating–really giving it that Parisian cafe feel.
On the menu, you’ll find about a dozen different crepes–their specialty–and a good selection of traditional French sandwiches, salads and quiches.
Not a big fan of crepes, I jumped on the NORMANDIE SALAD ($10.25). The salad is described as having “baguette medallions covered with warm chèvre, atop mixed [...]
2210 Middle St, Sullivans Island, SC $$ – Burgers, Tacos, Pub Food – $8-11 for entrees
If we’re driving to Sullivan’s for lunch or dinner, Jeffrey and I always vote for Taco Mamacita. But, wanting to try something new, we recently opted for Poe’s Tavern, just across the street. I’d never been, but I’d always heard such great things.
Named in honor of one of Sullivan’s Island’s famous residents, Edgar Allen Poe, Poe’s is a beachy restaurant just steps from the sand – a great place to meet up with friends after work or to fuel up after a long beach day.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Concourse B Atlanta, GA 30320
I can get into a bad habit when I find a good restaurant. Especially when I only have an opportunity to eat there every so often. This is how I’ve been treating One Flew South, the awesome sushi restaurant at Atlanta’s Airport (ATL)–I have returned at every opportunity. But, this time, I forced myself to explore the other options and had read some good things about Café Intermezzo in Terminal B.
It’s half book store, half cafe-style restaurant, which results in an always-busy-feeling atmosphere and, in the land of Chilis, TGI Fridays and other typical chains, [...]

No trip to the Big Apple would be complete without a trip to Times Square, no matter how many times you’ve been before:

REVIEW OF BRASSERIE RUHLMANN: This [...]Area: Plateau Mont-Royal 994 Rue Rachel E, Montreal, QC $ – Canadian, Diner fare Open 24 x 7
We didn’t order dessert at Phayathai (link to review) to save a little bit of room to at least try the classic Canadian dish poutine on our visit north of the border. With a quick Google search of something like “Poutine Montreal,” you can’t help but notice that La Banquise is one of the most popular hits. It seems like a crowd favorite with many great reviews and a large number of devout fans speaking quite highly of the fast food diner. So, we biked a little outside of downtown to give it a whirl.
When we arrived around 11pm, there was [...]
1503 17th St NW Washington, DC
I came across Sushi Taro when staying in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, D.C. on a recent business trip. It happened to be closest sushi restaurant in the area, so it only helped that it had pretty good reviews on Urbanspoon.
As I walked up the flight of stairs off 17th street to the second floor dining room, the hostess seemed surprised that I didn’t have reservations and they only had seating at the bar.
Settling in, I found that they have an extensive list of beers that aren’t typically available at your neighborhood sushi restaurant including Coedo Brewery, Echigo Brewing Company, Yo-Ho Brewing [...]
153 East Bay St. Seafood Dinner, Late Night (bar) $$$
Pearlz, on East Bay St., has never really been in the pool when choosing restaurants before – I don’t know if it’s because it’s a “chain” (it’s also in Columbia, SC) or that it seems so touristy, but either way, I’ve always been intrigued, just never enough to act on it.
That all changed the other night – Jeffrey and I were feeling oysters, and we decided to give Pearlz a try. We walked in to a crowded restaurant and grabbed two seats at the bar. It turned out to be the best place to sit – you can see the guys preparing the oysters right [...]
