Earlier this morning, Delta sent out a press release announcing changes that will be made to the SkyMiles program starting January 1, 2015, that they claim will make earning and redeeming easier for [...]
I was browsing Wikipedia the other day looking for a ranking of the top US Domestic airlines based on passengers carried and came across this:
I had no idea that Delta was the largest airline in the world as of 2012! This got me thinking: what are Delta’s longest non-stop routes? This installment joins the others I’ve compiled including:
Top 7: Longest domestic US flights Top 10: Longest Domestic Flights in the World Top 10: World’s longest non-stop flights Top 12 Longest Non-Stop Delta Flights Johannesburg-JNB –> Atlanta-ATL comes in to take the lead with an 8,439 mile journey on a Boeing [...]Valentine’s Day is on Friday and it’s the season where just about every hotel chain, airline and credit card shopping portal teams up with the various flower companies for some pretty huge points earning potential. Always keep in mind that they can afford to pay out the large bonus miles/points because their markup is usually huge. For example, a dozen roses from one of the following companies will cost you around $39-$49 + tax + delivery fees whereas you can usually get the same dozen roses from a local florist or even just Costco for $10-$20 + tax! But, here are some ideas on how to make sure that you’re earning a ton of points while getting a gift for that [...]
While flipping through the Delta Sky Magazine, I saw an announcement that Delta was increasing their flights from Raleigh-Durham-RDU with the addition of non-stop routes: Nassau-NAS, Salt Lake City-SLC, Philadelphia-PHL and (increased service to) Los Angeles-LAX. This prompted me to dig into all of the Delta cities that are served from RDU:
The grand total equates to 50+ flights per day and 380+ flights per week.
There’s some pretty good award availability out there, too:
Just a few short days until our honeymoon! Here’s a brief overview of where we’re headed and how we’re getting there:
Our 24,606 mile trip will take us to 10 countries (including connections) over 16 days:
Part 1 -New York
We’ll fly from Charleston-JFK to New York-JFK on Delta…
…and spend 1 night in the city to get our fill of the Christmas spirit.
Part 2 – Bali, Indonesia
Our award ticket starts in New York as we fly out of New York-LGA and, appx 33 hours later, land in Denpasar, [...]
Delta SkyMiles is notoriously one of the worst frequent flyer programs to use for award travel. The seat availability for award travel is slim, their website is buggy/broken and it’s difficult to book seats on SkyTeam partner airlines with Delta SkyMiles. These things said, it’s not at all impossible to book award travel on Delta–it just takes longer and requires you to have more flexibility. This series will help you understand how to squeeze the most amount of value out of your Delta SkyMiles.
Searching for award availabilityThe list goes in order of Delta hub size and therefore, number of flights offered. I recommend starting with the hubs first because [...]
Delta announced some pretty bad news last week–they’ve upped their Business Elite/First Class awards to Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and the Middle East by as much as 25%. The new prices go into effect June 1, 2014. Here are the changes:

For example, if you’re a Gold Medallion traveling with a no-status “civilian,” the weakest link in the reservation will decide your position on the upgrade list. Examples:
Diamond + Silver = All considered Silver Silver + no-status = Very last in line Diamond + Gold + Silver = All considered SilverEasy enough, right? Rule of thumb: Delta uses a “weakest link” scenario when it comes to [...]
