For the history buffs out there (like me!), you’ll probably recognize Fort Sumter as where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. You won’t learn until you visit, though, the first shots were sent TO Fort Sumter, not from it. Let me back up…
First, you have to take a ferry to the [...]

Widespread Panic & Umphrey’s McGee 10/4/13 & 10/5/13 Fall Tour 2013 Review – October 4 & 5, 2013 – Family Circle Stadium – Charleston, SC
Umphrey’s took the stage right at 6pm starting their 1hr 15min set. By 7:50pm, Widespread Panic took the stage to start their first set.
Review from JamBands.com:
Widespread Panic and Umphrey’s McGee wrapped up a two night run at the Family Circle Stadium in Charleston, SC last night. The weekend featured headlining shows from Panic preceded by opening sets from Umphrey’s. While the two bands didn’t collaborate on night one, they certainly made up for it on Saturday night as [...]
48 Elizabeth Street $10 admission fee Open daily until 5pm, last tour departs at 4:15pm.
Jeffrey lived less than a block away from the Aiken Rhett House last year. For a whole year. A whole year! Everytime we’d walk past it, we’d talk about going inside. This gigantic mansion on such a tiny lot (better known as an Urban Plantation) always captivated us — but I guess not so much that we toured it during the whole year he lived down the block.
Finally, a few Sundays ago, we bit the bullet and headed over. You enter in the side of the house, not the front. Once you open the door, you immediately see an exquisite marble double staircase. A [...]
Well, it’s August again, so that means back to the Family Circle Stadium in Charleston for Hootie & The Blowfish’s 11th Annual Homegrown Concert. Despite the threat of rain and 110% humidity the band took the stage around 8:45pm and put on a great show that never disappoints. They hit all of the classics, a few from Darius’ solo gig, tried-and-trusted REM & Zeppelin covers and a few new covers as well (Violent Femmes anyone?). [...]
Guess where we’re headed tonight? Well, first we’ll be singin’ along to every single Hootie and the Blowfish song at tonight’s concert… And THEN…
Yep, that’s right, we’re headed to Edisto Island, one of my favorite places in the world!
Edisto is one of South Carolina’s Sea Islands and offers what most other beaches don’t: almost nothing. There’s no hotel, no fast food restaurant and no stop light on Edisto.
Welcoming all visitors is the “Mystery Tree,” a tree in the middle of the marsh that has been mysteriously decorated each season. And, inviting all those leaving the [...]
Check out McCown’s interview on WCIV-TV ABC Charleston earlier today–watch out Connie Chung, Soledad O’Brien, ok insert name of relevant female news anchor here:

2210 Middle St, Sullivans Island, SC $$ – Burgers, Tacos, Pub Food – $8-11 for entrees
If we’re driving to Sullivan’s for lunch or dinner, Jeffrey and I always vote for Taco Mamacita. But, wanting to try something new, we recently opted for Poe’s Tavern, just across the street. I’d never been, but I’d always heard such great things.
Named in honor of one of Sullivan’s Island’s famous residents, Edgar Allen Poe, Poe’s is a beachy restaurant just steps from the sand – a great place to meet up with friends after work or to fuel up after a long beach day.
