Guess where we’re headed tonight? Well, first we’ll be singin’ along to every single Hootie and the Blowfish song at tonight’s concert… And THEN…
Yep, that’s right, we’re headed to Edisto Island, one of my favorite places in the world!
Edisto is one of South Carolina’s Sea Islands and offers what most other beaches don’t: almost nothing. There’s no hotel, no fast food restaurant and no stop light on Edisto.
Welcoming all visitors is the “Mystery Tree,” a tree in the middle of the marsh that has been mysteriously decorated each season. And, inviting all those leaving the [...]
2210 Middle St, Sullivans Island, SC $$ – Burgers, Tacos, Pub Food – $8-11 for entrees
If we’re driving to Sullivan’s for lunch or dinner, Jeffrey and I always vote for Taco Mamacita. But, wanting to try something new, we recently opted for Poe’s Tavern, just across the street. I’d never been, but I’d always heard such great things.
Named in honor of one of Sullivan’s Island’s famous residents, Edgar Allen Poe, Poe’s is a beachy restaurant just steps from the sand – a great place to meet up with friends after work or to fuel up after a long beach day.
Everyone loves a weekend getaway, but, when Thursday comes, I usually find myself a bit… shall we say, perplexed… over what to pack. I’m just staring into my closet thinking the ideas will come to me if I stare long enough.
The trickiest part about packing is where you’re headed. Does the weather match your hometown? If not, you may need to pull out your off-season stored clothes. What activities do you plan to do? If you’re planning a wide variety of activities – from shopping, to climbing a mountain, you’ll have to remember to pack accordingly.
While it’s all very elementary stuff, it can still be hard to squeeze [...]

Who doesn’t love shopping?
And, while shopping for basics isn’t as fun as shopping for glitzy, glamorous dresses, these basic items are a necessity for traveling light.
Here are a few of my favorite basic picks – from leggings to neutral sweaters, you can’t go wrong with these cheap duds… just in time for Fall!!1) Get Scrubbed to the Bone in a Turkish Bath
Ok, now before I experienced this, it was both a “can’t wait to do this” adventure and a “what the heck am I getting myself into?!” feeling. Traditionally, men and women are separated into totally different areas (yes, that meant separating from the one person I knew on the continent and putting myself into the trusting hands of… old women who scrub you down while you’re naked? And they’re just staring at you and laughing in a language you can’t understand). Yes, daunting to say the least.
So, Jeffrey and I took the wimpy way out and voted to go to the one [...]
I’m headed out of town tonight.
Where? I don’t know yet!!
We’re weekend-blitz-ing it up this weekend to a mystery location that only Jeffrey knows.
Here’s what I know:
1) We’re flying out tonight on Spirit Air 2) I can only take a backpack’s worth of stuff with me. 3) We’re renting a car. 4) We leave Sunday. 5) When I asked Jeffrey what to pack, he said, “It’s summertime.”
I love surprises especially when they involve traveling, so I’m so excited I can’t sit still!!!
I’ll keep you posted…check my Instagram later tonight (or early tomorrow morning) for [...]
Bordeaux was our first stop in our France trip. Roughly three hours away by train, we only had to wait a short while once we arrived at CDG (in first class style!) to board our train straight from the airport.
Jeffrey studied abroad here in the spring of 2009, so he knows this port city like the back of his hand. It was my first time here, and it was so fun for me to explore where he lived. We even got to have dinner at his host family’s restaurant! How cool!
On the Garonne River, the water plays a large part in Bordeaux’s history. And, as the fifth largest city in France (with a population of 1.1 million), Bordeaux is the world’s wine industry center, [...]
