They have different country codes than European mainland France which is FR.

When every plane touch US soil you pass through immigration and all these bla blas even if you continue in the same flight to a third country.

Flights from Japan/Korea to South America make a stop in US (usually in LAX) and everybody gets out and you need a visa if your country is not part of VWP.

Shame for US airlines which lose many transit passangers.

It’s actually neither currently…I guess Hawaiian Airlines has slightly changed their schedule. The current times are:

– Flight# HA 51 JFK-HNL: Scheduled flight time 11h05m, although average wheels up/touchdown is closer to 10h30m (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/HAL51)

– Flight# HA 50 HNL-JFK: Scheduled flight time 9h25m, average is closer to 8hr45m (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/HAL50)
