McCown’s Weekend Pick: For the Travelin’ Toes

OK, so on our trip to Turkey last year, I wore my brand new pair of TOMS for the first time.

And, I wore them for the whole trip. Which was great — my feet were never tired — until it was time to take pictures.

Here are my TOMS making an appearance at the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul

TOMS are just not very trendy. [tippy title=”Unless you’re a hipster.” width=”350″ height=”263″] hipsterbike [/tippy] Which I’m not.

So, on our recent trip to France & Italy (where we got engaged!!), thank goodness I wasn’t wearing my bright red TOMS when Jeffrey asked me to marry him!!

OK, so what if you can't see my shoes... We just got engaged!! (and they're black boots, not TOMS!)

Luckily, I found these Dr. Scholl’s shoe inserts, and I just trimmed them to my shoe size and popped them into whatever boots I was wearing that day. The gel inserts made my boots at least 100,000x more comfortable. So, I didn’t complain one time about my sore little feet like I have on past trips.

Massaging gel... yes, please!

And, for just $12.99 at drugstore.com (or at your local drugstore), they’re easy to find and not nearly as expensive as even a pair of TOMS… although no child gets some inserts for free with your purchase.

Have you tried gel inserts? What kind of shoes do you wear on trips to stay trendy and comfortable? Tell us!
